About the Course
In this live session, Chloe Johnson of Spotted Horse LLC sat down with Lexi Richelman—owner of Reining It In—to explore a fresh perspective on horsemanship that goes beyond traditional barrel racing. Lexi shared how she has stepped “out of the box” in her approach, choosing to prioritize the horse’s opinion, posture, and biomechanics rather than chasing results at the expense of harmony. With a deep awareness of the horse’s nervous system, she demonstrated how small changes in posture and subtle cues can unlock relaxation, clarity, and performance. What we covered: How to listen to what the horse’s body is truly saying The role of biomechanics in creating long-term soundness and partnership Why slowing down and honoring the horse’s nervous system leads to better performance outcomes Lexi’s personal journey of choosing a different path in the barrel racing world This webinar was an inspiring conversation about blending performance goals with horse-first education and mindful training practices.

More specifically, Lexi is a wonderful riding instructor for all ages and riding levels. Lexi’s skills include, but are not limited to: barrel racing, pole bending, track living systems, rider and equine balance, rider and equine posture, pleasure showing, ranch showing, pattern riding, reining, 4H, FFA, equine science, equine nutrition, classroom instruction, and overall training. She has an Associate of Science - Pre-Vet degree, Bachelor of Animal Science degree, & has experience working in the education field as a paraprofessional and substitute teacher. Lexi strives to gain as much knowledge as possible in order to be the best teacher, trainer, & coach she can be. She is currently enrolled in some continuing education classes registered through different accredited associations and experts. Reining It In offers a plethora of horse-related services: horse boarding, horseback riding school, horse training, clinics, instruction, and consultations. The list does not end there, though. Lexi is working diligently on bringing more things to Reining It In’s table. When it comes to horse training, Lexi offers an approach many do not. Her approach focuses on working with every horse to find his balance both in body and brain. Not only can Lexi train your horse but she can work with you through her lesson program to show you true horsemanship; the ability to work as one with your horse - without gimmicky aides used only to monetize the training & lesson industry.
